Compare And Contrast Essay: Cheetahs And Leopards!

This is my essay. I worked really hard on it and I put heaps of effort into it.
Comparing Leopards and Cheetahs.

Introduction:

The Leopards and Cheetahs are really similar but most of the time they are actually quite different. They have a heaps of differences and similarities!

Similarities:

These feline cats are fast and stealthy. Cheetahs can sprint up to 110 – 120 km/h and are also really stealthy because they sneak in the tall grass and they strike their target with a pounce. Leopards can sprint up to 58 km/h and are stealthy by staying low and sneaks through the grass as well.

They both live in the continent of Africa and the south of Asia. They live basically all around Africa and also the south of Asia. They can be found at Kruger National Park, Kgaligadi Transfrontier Park or the Moremi Game Reserve.

They both hunt stealthy and both hunt for small animals. They are carnivores (Eats Meat). They eat gazelles, wildebeest calves, impalas, and smaller hoofed animals in its habitat. On a special occasion Cheetahs and Leopards may eat rabbits, birds, hares, antelopes, and warthogs.

All animals have kingdoms and half are different and half are the same. Cheetahs and Leopards both have the same kingdom and they are from the same family. Their kingdom is called Animalia kingdom, which has Cheetahs, Leopards, Lions, Jaguar, Lynx, Puma and a Domestic Cat, plus they are from the same family.

Differences

Cheetahs

Cheetahs are the fastest land animal in the world reaching up to speeds of 110 – 120 km/h. They can accelerate up to 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. When running Cheetahs use their tail to steer like a rudder for a boat. Cheetahs are extremely fast however they tire quickly and can only keep up their top speed for a few minutes before they are too tired to continue.

Cheetahs are really good at hunting for their prey. They use their stealthiness and speed tactically. They use them well by hiding through the long grass to their advantage. Being so quick they are able to capture prey that no other animals are able to catch them. They are easily winded after their incredible bursts of speed. They move low in the grass approaching from all over the place and sometimes using small hole’s and things like that in the land to disguise their approach.

The Cheetah's habitat is mainly the open savannas and grassland areas in various parts of Africa. There also is a small population of cheetahs in Iran. They can be found in the Southern Algeria, Northern Niger and Iran. Cheetahs move from a lot of places because their enemies keep chasing them out of it.

Leopards

Leopards are still fast like a Cheetah but they aren't as fast. Leopards can sprint up to 58 km/h and they can run half as fast as a cheetah. Leopards can reach a top speed of 30 miles per hour. The fastest animal on Earth is said to be a cheetah, which can reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour.

Leopards are fascinating hunters. The Leopards sneak through things and This African animal will stalk a target over distances of a few hundred meters, or wait in ambush if the target moves towards it. Once it is within a range of about 10 meters, this cat dashes forward and uses the sharp, hooked claws of each forepaw to kill their prey. The killing bite is directed at the nape of the neck or at the throat. Small prey such as mice, rats and small birds are simply swatted to death with a single swipe of a paw.

The habitat of a leopard is found in semi-deserts, savannas, grasslands and rain forests. Leopards live in Sub-Saharan Africa, parts of the Middle East and southern and central Asia, particularly in India and China.

OLYMPIC PBL REFLECTION
Project Topic: Handball (Slide)

Photo/Screenshot of Project (insert below)
Handball 1.png
Handball 3.pngHandball 2.png

Finish these starters:
  • Something I enjoyed about my project was finding new things about handball that I don’t know. Because I didn’t know much about handball and I learnt a lot from this task.

  • The most challenging thing about my project was finding things that was not easy to write down and things that are obvious. Because I wanted it to be interesting like that people won’t know anything about.

  • The main skill I got better at was Writing interesting facts for anyone. I got better at it by using my imitation muscle from the internet but I didn’t copy and paste.

  • Something interesting I learnt was is that some things are based of different genders.

  • What I would most like to change about my project is add more slides and drawings. Because it was fun and I like drawing and adding more facts and things like that.

  • I would like to do my next PBL about SCIENCE

Choose three learning muscles and explain how you used them during your PBL.

Revising because I went back and edited the things that were wrong.

Managing Distractions because I did my work while my friends were talking to me and also I did my work while people did naughty things.

Imitation because when I got stuck I looked at mac’s for an example.

Create a Description of Your Project

This needs to have either video or audio. You can use any app you like. Include a link here. You will embed it as part of your Reflection PBL Blog Post.

New Bike/Bike Ride

New Bike/Bike Ride

In the holidays I got a new bike. It is called the Black Rocket and it has 7x3 gears like there is 3 on the left and there is 7 on the right. I also got a new helmet that I got the next day. Then on Sunday me, Dad and Maddy went for a bike ride around town. Dad asked us if we wanted bike over to Havelock for fun so me and Mads said YES!! We were biking for like a hour and a half  and Whoosh the wind was howling while I was biking. I nearly fell off and I got so tired from riding through the wind. I really wanted to play Pokemon Go so I can beat my Dad but I couldn't trust myself because I would 100% drop it. After that I got home and I got into warm clothes and had dinner and went to bed.

Matariki Reflection

I an proud of this because I thought a lot about the questions and I put my personal best.

My Matariki Reflection

Share what your favourite part of the day was and explain why (because).
My favourite part of the day was Tuki Tuki Panels because they were challenging at the start then I started to get the hang of it.

Share a time you used a learning muscle. Describe how you used it.
I used the learning muscle on managing distractions when Van was talking to me and I was just doing my panel. Also he kept saying how much x’s I had on my panel.

Describe your biggest challenge of the day.
My biggest challenge of the day was trying to do the dance moves at Zumba.

Finish this sentence:
The best thing about Matariki is trying all the things they did then.

Write a sentence for each letter (PRIDE) about how you showed PRIDE on our Matariki Day.
Personal Best: By getting the hang of my panel.
Respect and Responsibility: Helping people with their panel.

Passion Project

Passion Projects Reflection

This is my passion project and it is about soccer/football skills. I put a lot of effort into this and I am really proud of this because I tried my hardest to get the skills done and to write the instructions.
Hope you like it!

Key:
Green=My writing

Describe your passion project. What was your learning in it? What were you trying to produce?
My passion project was about football/soccer. I learnt new skills and I also learnt how to do them. I was trying to produce football tricks like how to do them and stuff like that.

How far did you get with your passion project? What would have helped you to get further?
I finished my passion project and I really like how it went and I could have made a boot but I didn't have enough time. Nothing would have helped me get further because I finished it and I couldn't make a boot because I didn’t know how to.

What was the most challenging part of your passion project?
The hardest bit was nailing the tricks because it took me some time and I also didn’t know how to do them that well.

What was surprising about your passion project?
That I could actually do the tricks because I had no idea of how to do them. Also I didn’t expect me to be able to do the tricks that fast and explain them fast.

Did you follow your plan well? Why or why not?
I followed my plan perfectly and I did them in the right order. I also tried my hardest to follow my plan in the right order.

Which learning muscles did you use the most while you were working on your passion project? How did you use each one?
Absorption and Planning because I got focused straight into my work and I also planed out what I am going to start with.

Which learning muscles did you find difficult to stretch during passion project time?
Managing Distractions because people kept talking to me and I kept getting distracted.

Include a picture/embedded link to your passion project

If you were allowed to pick a new passion project, what would you choose and why?
Basket ball because I know nothing about it pretty much and I really enjoy the sport.

What was your favourite part of passion projects?
Doing the skills because I am learning how to do them and also the people watching it can learn how to do it too

3.To make it easy draw chalk on where you want to use your rafere on the board
4.Get your rafere and twist the end and tape is so it’s easy to stick it through the holes also you will need 2 colors.

Task 2
Matariki is often a time for renewal. Set yourself a goal of something you would like to work on over the next year, and at least 3 steps to help you achieve this.

  1. Interdependence. My step is to always sit by the right people to help them and they can help me.
  2. To keep up to date. My step is to focus on my work instead of talking to my friends.
  3. Absorption. My step is to not talk to my friends on the mat so when they say go I will hear then I will go to what I need to do.

The Abandoned Haunted House

My Best Learning

This is my free choice writing
IALT write descriptively

The Abandoned Haunted House

Ring! Ring! “Oscar, do you want to go explore a haunted house with me, you, Cameron, Rory and Amos”
“Sure thing”
“Meet me there at 4pm okay”
“Yep” replied Oscar. 2 hours later the whole group was there and we all are deciding who's going first. 1 minute later I decide I will go first, right at that moment the door randomly opens. We are all concerned how did that happen so I walk in with everyone following behind me. SLAM! The door slams shut behind us and we all jump with shivers down our spines. “How did that happen” said Cameron
“Well it is a haunted house” Brayden replied. Couple minutes later Amos and Rory found something interesting it was a old room from like 50 years ago. “Guys come in here now”! Amos and Rory shouted “what is it” Oscar shouts back “It’s a really old room” Rory said “We will be there soon”. Everyone gathered up at the stairs then we went to explore the room, but we I look back right in front of my eyes there is writing on the wall that has been written in blood. At that moment I feel really really cold like there is a ghost that went through me. I get a little scared but then Crack!  Everyone hears the weird sound too, I go back down the stairs with everyone behind me and I turn around and right there is a scary door that looks like it leads to a secret lab I shout to everyone “COME HERE NOW”! Everyone sprints over and I open the door, AHHHHH!

TO BE CONTINUED

I am proud of this because I tried my hardest and I put lots of effort into it.

My biggest challenge was trying to think what to write about and how I should write it.
